Above and beyond

To the people who work at Kettering food bank … I want to say a massive thank you. I don’t like using services like the food bank as I don’t always feel like I should as I know it’s for people who desperately need it … however unfortunately over the last month or so I have been there twice (including today) due to financial difficulties what with Christmas coming up and gas and electric being so high …
I have a young son and had a really tough time recently. Today the food bank delivered us a food package which not only contained so much stuff to get us through but also a birthday gift for myself because it’s my birthday today!
I couldn’t believe it when I opened it. I literally had tears in my eyes. I’m usually a very proud person and don’t like to admit when I need help but thank you to those who volunteer there and everyone who donates because honestly such a small thing could mean the world to someone else.
Thank you.
We get lots of requests to volunteer, often from businesses who give staff time off to do charity work and I’m not against that. The foodbank volunteers don’t just do a day now and again, it’s a weekly commitment and often have to change plans in order to be available. We have a compassion for those in crisis, that’s why we do what we do, whether it’s giving up our time or donating. So glad we could help to brighten up your day.
The Team.
