Entitled

One of the questions that has cropped up quite a lot recently is “Am I entitled to a food parcel” or the assertion “I am entitled to a parcel”.   The short answer is “there is no such thing as an entitlement, if I may use Universal Credit as an example. (Being on Universal Credit does not automatically entitle you to a food parcel.) To receive U/C you have fulfil certain conditions to be entitled to it, if for any reason your conditions change then U/C is stopped. One of those conditions is often not attending an appointment, we would call that “self inflicted” ie you could not be bothered. The foodbank works on a similar principle, spending all your money on “drugs, drink, or going on holiday" and spending all your money is self inflicted. The foodbank is there to help those in a crisis, if the crisis is of your own making then with respect to all those who donate to us we have a duty to use our resources wisely and we may well refuse you.

You could try going to the Job Centre and telling them you have spent all your U/C can I have some More.
